Activities
I graduated with a Bachelor (Honours) and a Master degree from Myeik University, where my research specialized in the carbon stock assessment of mangroves in Lampi Marine National Park. Worked with FFI (Fauna and Flora International Organization) contributing to projects that focused on sustainable marine resource management, mentoring, and strategic planning. I have been actively participating in the field survey with hands-on experiences of the biodiversity of Tidal Wetland along the Southern Coastal Area on Myeik Archipelago. I reported the research papers of the diversity of mangroves, mangrove sedimentation and mangrove molluscs of tidal wetland. From those experiences shaped my motivation to reach one of my goals to learn about marine resources and their ecosystem.
From academia to professional pathways, I witnessed the local communities confronting issues such as declining fish populations and climate-related impacts on marine resources. Worked as a service provider for newly proposed Locally Managed Marine Area (LMMA) sites, where I supported environmental education initiatives for children and facilitated stakeholder discussions.
Furthermore as a youth activist, I actively engaged in environmental protection. Through my participation in the climate adaptation and mitigation cohort, I deepened my passion for environmental conservation and community empowerment. As a group leader, I recognized the need to strengthen my leadership, project management and social innovation skills to create a lasting impact that I received the UN Climate Champion Award. Within 3 years, my passion and sacrifices were not enough to make a great impact among those affected people. Nevertheless, I realized I have to learn environmental management and assessment to understand the issues and obstacles that analyze better for sustainability.
In the AI ASEAN Program as a master trainer, I have collaborated with MYEO (Myanmar Youth Empowerment Opportunities) to provide AI literacy training to youth, teachers, and parents around regions of Myanmar. With the network and experience I have gained, I am committed to expanding my work on environmental education and ocean conservation initiatives. From these actions, I hope to empower local communities, especially coastal youth, from awareness education to hands-on activities.
My long-term goal is to strengthen environmental education and sustainability in Myanmar through education, field-based training, and the development of accessible scientific resources. By engaging with local universities, youth organizations, and community groups, I aim to contribute to the policy, science and management of environmental resources.
Skills
I’m a researcher experienced in
marine biodiversity and coastal ecosystems, specializing mangroves, seagrass,
seaweed and molluscs. My expertise includes research ship survey, species
identification, carbon stock assessment, and laboratory analysis supported by
strong scientific reporting skills. I am dedicated to rising awareness to the
communities and underrepresented groups with a focus on advancing climate
change resilience and ecosystem sustainability.
