I conduct research focused on benthic ecosystems and -communities, where my present focus is to describe spatial variation in benthic communities and use this information in combination with environmental data to generate predictive distribution maps of where particular species or communities may occur. This focuses on deep-sea taxa regarded as indicators of Vulnerable Marine Ecosystems, such as cold-water corals. I also investigate how emerging sectors like offshore windfarms, in combination with predicted climate change, may affect the future distribution of benthic communities.
