Innovative and results-driven Fisheries and Aquaculture Scientist with over 15 years of progressive experience advancing sustainable fisheries, aquaculture systems, marine biotechnology, marine-based products, and food security across Africa, Asia, and Europe. Demonstrated expertise in designing, scaling, and managing multi-million-dollar research and development programmes, translating science into policy-relevant outcomes, and building public–private partnerships that strengthen aquatic food systems and coastal livelihoods.
My work spans marine and aquatic resources utilization, animal and aquatic nutrition, feed formulation, marine product development, molecular and applied biotechnology, with a strong focus on value addition from underutilized resources such as Sargassum spp. and low-trophic fish species. I have contributed to regional and national strategies that integrate sustainable fisheries, aquaculture innovation, and blue-economy approaches into development agendas.
As Technology Ambassador (TA) for Nigeria at the West and Central African Council for Agricultural Research and Development (CORAF/WECARD), I led multi-country coalitions across 23 West and Central African countries, supporting evidence-based policies and investment strategies that strengthened fisheries, aquaculture, and marine-linked food systems.
As Chief Sustainable Agro Post-Harvest Expert at AGROUT Nigeria Ltd, I spearheaded market-driven marine and agro-biotechnology innovations, including fish soluble protein concentrates for fortified school feeding programmes and cassava leaf protein concentrates, improving child nutrition while creating sustainable market opportunities for smallholder producers.
As Chief Researcher at the Nigerian Institute for Oceanography and Marine Research (NIOMR), I lead and coordinate cutting-edge research in fisheries and aquaculture, marine biotechnology, marine products development, sustainable feed systems, and applied molecular approaches, with particular emphasis on animal and aquatic nutrition, feed formulation, and resource-efficient production systems.
I have published over 50 peer-reviewed scientific papers, and have trained and empowered more than 8,000 women and unemployed youth in best management practices across fisheries, aquaculture, poultry, livestock nutrition, and aquatic value chains. I have also successfully collaborated several leading international organizations including the World Bank, FARA, USAID, CORAF/WECARD, WAMBA-net, SEAFDEC, FAO, ASTRA (EU), and CARGS/ARCN, delivering outputs aligned with international standards and donor expectations.
