I am a researcher in aquatic ecology with
ten years of experience in freshwater and six years in marine ecosystems. My
expertise includes socio-ecological analysis, ecosystem dynamics, conservation
strategies, monitoring design, data management, and projects/programs
implementation. I am particularly interested in nature-based solutions,
ecological restoration, and ecosystem-based adaptation. Over the past seven
years, I worked at the Alexander von Humboldt Biological Resources Research
Institute, supporting legislative and corporate needs related to nature
contributions, monitoring aquatic biodiversity health, and addressing
pollutants' impact on biodiversity. I have advised peasant communities in
Caquetá on water quality management, collaborated with the Xinka indigenous
community and the Guatemalan government on resource management, and taught data
analysis courses at Pontifical Bolivarian University.
I serve as the
coordinator for Latin America at FWBON-GEOBON and am an expert on the IUCN
monitoring specialist commission. My contributions include participation in COP
Biodiversity, COP Minamata, COP Climate Change, and IPBES, as well as
involvement in national initiatives for mercury management and freshwater and
marine biodiversity monitoring in Colombia. I possess strong skills in project
planning, team management, creativity, and problem-solving, allowing me to
effectively engage with diverse communities and stakeholders in aquatic ecology
and conservation.
