Activities
Research and Conservation
I lead projects on sea turtle ecology and conservation My work combines satellite telemetry, isotopic analyses, and spatial modeling to understand migration corridors, feeding grounds, and overlaps with fisheries. I collaborate with organizations such as Grupo Tortuguero de las Californias and international partners to generate applied science for conservation.
Teaching and Education
I currently teach sciences at the high school level, integrating conservation and biodiversity into classroom activities. I have also taught marine ecology, biotechnology of aquatic organisms, and entrepreneurship for biology students at university level. I develop practical workshops and labs for students, from species identification to bioinformatics, encouraging hands-on learning.
Community Engagement
I design and implement community-based conservation programs, working directly with fishing communities in Sinaloa. This includes training fishers in sea turtle monitoring techniques, developing science camps for youth leaders, and leading outreach efforts to raise awareness about marine biodiversity. These initiatives build trust and long-term collaborations with local communities.
Science Communication and Outreach
I am actively engaged in science communication, producing educational content for social media through Gaia, a platform I developed to promote biodiversity awareness. My communication work blends storytelling, photography, and art to connect science with broader audiences. I also contribute as a reviewer for the National Geographic Society and the coordinator for the National Geographic Mexican Hub, supporting conservation projects worldwide.
Project Development and Grants
I have secured and managed conservation grants from institutions such as National Geographic and the Dr. Holly Reed Conservation Fund. My experience includes designing budgets, timelines, and methodologies for both local and international projects, ensuring scientific impact and community participation.
