Activities
I study the marine biogeochemical cycles of carbon, nitrogen and
sulfur with a particular focus on the northern Mediterranean and the
western Arctic Ocean. I contributed to the discovery of cold seeps in
the glacial depression of the Kveithola Trough (northwestern Barents
Sea). From late of 2023 to early 2026, I have been PI of the MEFISTO project (PRIN 2022 PNRR), which
aimed to determine the actual contribution of the coastal marine
environment to the atmospheric methane budget

Skills
Training coordination/lecturing/expert in Ocean Sciences, with expertise in carbon plankton dynamics, biogeochemical processes, Blue-Cloud Virtual Research Environments, Virtual Laboratories, NPZD-type models, marine data access and analysis and interpretation of model outputs for marine research and decision-support. Contributor and co-author of IOC-OTGA online training materials, practical exercises and learner assessment activities, and mentor during the Blue-Cloud Hackathon held in September 2025.
