Arthur Veronez is a biologist specializing in marine biology, ecology, and environmental sciences. He holds a degree in Biology from the Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF, Brazil) and a Master’s in Ecology and Environment from the University of Porto (FCUP, Portugal), where he focused on Marine Sciences and the ecological role of artificial reefs in biodiversity and habitat restoration.
Professionally, Veronez has worked as a Senior Technician at CCMAR (University of Algarve) and the Laboratory of Benthos at IPMA (Portugal), and contributed to an interdisciplinary European project on artificial reefs at CIIMAR (University of Porto). These roles provided extensive experience in benthic ecology, scientific research, data analysis, and scientific writing.
His research focuses on marine invertebrates, benthic communities, and the ecological impacts of human activities on marine ecosystems, with the goal of informing conservation strategies and sustainable resource management. He is also active in environmental education and science communication, having served as a Marine Educator at the Lisbon Oceanarium, leading outreach initiatives on marine conservation and plastic pollution.
Currently, as a doctoral student, Veronez investigates the ecological functions and conservation importance of Atlantic mangroves, exploring their role in macrobenthic biodiversity, ecosystem services, coastal protection, and the impacts of climate change.
His overarching objective is to advance understanding of coastal and marine ecosystems, integrating research on organisms, habitats, and environmental drivers, while promoting conservation and environmental education.
