I am mainly working with growth physiology of flatfishes (turbot, Scophthalmus maximus and halibut Hippoglossus hippoglossus). The studies focus on the environmental (temperature, photoperiod, salinity) and genetical aspects of the mechanisms thatgovern growth and maturation in these species. Another important area I am working on is the population genetics of fish and invertebrates. So far I have been working with turbot, halibut and pink shrimp (Pandalus borealis). I have until now mainly been using traditional methods (blood, allozymes) but will in the future focus more on newer molecular methods (e.g. DNA microsatelittes on turbot and halibut).
