FGV Growth & Development is a study center at Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV) dedicated to research and studies in the area of economic growth and development.
Our research focuses on the Brazilian economy, relying on the body of theoretical knowledge and empirical evidence accumulated mainly in the last two decades, and using comparisons with successful experiences in developed and emerging economies. In this sense, among our objects of study, we highlight the understanding of the reasons why some economies are richer than others, what makes a country grow quickly while others remain stagnant and, within this comparative context, how to understand the recent experience of our country. Country. An important part of our work will be to identify, suggest and influence the design of economic policies that aim to remove obstacles to economic development in Brazil.
In addition to its own researchers, the Center will bring together researchers from FGV/EPGE - Brazilian School of Economics and Finance, from other FGV units and other institutions in Brazil. The Center will also count on the collaboration of visiting researchers based in universities and international organizations.
