Activities

The former Meteorological Service of the Netherlands Antilles and Aruba ceased to exist on October 10, 2010. This is the consequence of the dismantling of the Netherlands Antilles that has taken place on October 10, 2010.
As has been published lately The Netherlands Antilles ceased to exist; Curacao and Sint Maarten have become autonomous parties within the Kingdom of the Netherlands (as is Aruba since 1986) and Bonaire, Statia and Saba have come under direct jurisdiction of The Netherlands. It has been decided by the Government of Aruba to have its own Meteorological Service, separately from the former Netherlands Antilles.

Therefore the former bureau of the Meteorological Service Netherlands Antilles and Aruba, located on Aruba was under reorganization. As a result of the reorganization, the Departamento Meteorologico Aruba now is the source for Meteorological, Seismological and Climatological data for Aruba, as well as the official governmental entity to issue severe weather bulletins for Aruba.
