I am a graduate of the Department of Biology from the University of Portsmouth in the United
Kingdom (2013-2016). I completed my postgraduate studies (M.Sc.) in Marine Sciences at Heriot-Watt
University in Edinburgh (2016-2017) and specialize in reef ecology in various parts of the world such
as the Indo-Pacific and Pacific Oceans and the Mediterranean. Through my research trips in which he participated, I gained
experience in underwater data collection and data collection survey management. My research interests
focus more on reef ecology and the management and development of marine protected areas and marine
parks. My past research focused on recording the biodiversity and population size of marine organisms
and comparing protected and non-protected areas. In 2021 I completed a certificate in maritime
environmental management from Lloyd’s Maritime Academy while also developing a conceptual project
for the automation of data collection from reefs which was presented at the International Coral Reef
Symposium 2021.
I am a certified professional and scientific diver as well as a professional member of the Marine Biological
Association in the United Kingdom. I have also been certified as a Reefcheck Ecodiver by Reefcheck
Worldwide. My other interests are underwater photography and water sports.
Nowadays I participate in several projects around Greece and at the same time I am pursuing a PhD in Marine Sciences through which I will gain significant knowledge and become more capable of succesfully achieving my ultimate goal which is to create a MPA network in Greece and also help in developing and creating MPAs around the globe.
