Main activities focus on the ecology of freshwater plankton algae and the filamentous, nusiance cyanobacterium, Lyngbya wollei. Field assays of plankton communities include: living and fossil diatoms (in short cores); and formation of algal metalimnetic layers. Laboratory work focused on effects of the formation of calcium phosphate solids on algal growth and phosphorus utilization. Field and laboratory studies of Lyngbya wollei include: herbicide sensitivity and other management techniques; pigment analysis; chemical conditions favoring growth; and biogeography.
