Research into climate change and variability and seasonal to decadal climate predictability using observed data and climate models.  Current work focusses on summer and winter forecasting and predictability for Europe,  causes of global temperature variations down to the seasonal time scale since 1891 and the Interdecadal Pacific Oscillation.
