Research Activities Trevor has 35 years of career experience working as an environmental scientist, marine pollution emergency responder, chemist, and oil exploration geochemist. As Senior Scientist: Maritime, Environment and Chemical Services, Trevor brings to the Asia-Pacific ASA team a broad range of chemical and environmental knowledge and skills from the oil and gas, shipping, and power generation industries as well as oil spill/HAZMAT response and maritime casualty experience. Previously he was the Australian Federal Environmental and Scientific Co-ordinator during marine pollution incidents in Commonwealth waters. The Principal Environmental Adviser on the National Response Team (NRT) and responsible for a variety of projects and initiatives of the National Plan to Combat Pollution of the Sea by Oil and Other Noxious and Hazardous Substances as well as the provision of specialised scientific and environmental advice to both the Australian Maritime Safety Authority and State/territory response organisations during maritime pollution events. He worked for the South Pacific Regional Environment Programme (SPREP) developing marine pollution response contingency plans, responding to oil spill incidents, training spill response personnel, providing environmental impact assessments after major pollution incidents. Developed the Pacific WWII Shipwreck database and assisted in the development of the SPREP WWII Shipwreck Mitigation/Response Strategy.
