Research Activities My research focus is on 1) interactions between fisheries and marine mammals, 2) marine mammals as indicators of ecosystem change, and 3) the natural history and biology of marine mammals. Methods I employ include captive studies, field studies, and simulation and data analysis studies. My approach is multi-disciplinary, combining the talents of marine mammalogists, physiologists, ecologists, fisheries specialists and oceanographers. The primary species I have been studying are Steller sea lions, northern fur seals, harbour seals and killer whales.
