Skills/Expertise My research themes are presents the physiographic and oceanographic settings and sediment types of the Bay of Bengal in general and the eastern continental margin of India in particular. This background information helps to understand the modern oceanographic conditions and their possible influence on ostracoda distribution in surface sediments. Other aspect is deals with the use of relict ostracoda to reconstruct the paleoclimate of early Holocene. Certain characteristics of relict ostracoda are used to reconstruct the paleoenvironment of early Holocene and deals with the fundamental approach; systematic taxonomy. Which has always been a special interest to paleontology and forms one of the important and major part of the paleontological study. One of the major applied objectives is to documented the interrelation between the Oxygen minimum zone (OMZ) and ostracoda and the variations in distribution and intensity of OMZ through time, which is hitherto not studied from this region in detail.
