Research Activities

Coordinating, managerial, organisational, networking and partnership building activities in support of the UNDP/GEF Scaling up Sustainable Development Strategy for Seas of East Asia implementation project

• Preparation of capacity development plans of local governments and universities to bridge identified gaps in expertise, training and human resources; 

•Confirmation of potential organisations and institutes to enable knowledge transfer to priority sites;  

• Assessing capacity/capacity needs of universities in delivering scientific and technical support programs to sites in 8 countries;               

• Identifying gaps in targeted research, training, guidance materials and recommending/initiating approaches for filling such gaps;            

• Organising and conducting regional workshops involving 8-10 countries; 

• Organising and conducting East Asian Seas Congress 2015 training and workshops on Marine Ecosystem Service Valuation and Marine Spatial Planning Tools;  

• Facilitating the review and agreement of training manuals and guidelines to be used in regional and national training;              

• Facilitating the development of partnerships between scientific institutes and local governments to bridge the gap between expertise and needs;

Applying Knowledge Management to Scale up Partnership Investments for Sustainable Development of Large Marine Ecosystems of East Asia and their Coasts (funded by GEF/World Bank):                                                                                                            

• Identifying and developing services for the regional platform of knowledge management products for scaling up investments in SDS-SEA implementation;    

• Establishing and operationalising a community of practice leading to the delivery of services and assistance to private sector, local governments and other customers to enable them to sustainably manage land, coastal and marine resources, including behavioural change, and a more sustainable way of production, management and use of marine resources

• Created the PNLC microsite of the SEAKnowledge Bank

• Oversaw the development of the Solution Exchange and Discussion Forum of the SEAKnowledge Bank
