Research Activities My research interest is morphological and molecular characterization and toxicology of the toxic marine microalgae in Malaysia. The genus Pseudo-nitzchia is a group of pennate chain-forming diatoms, which produce the toxin domoic acid, responsible for amnesic shellfish poisoning. I had published some of the Pseudo-nitzschia papers during my master and Ph.D study ongoing now. The first toxic species of Pseudo-nitzschia had been reported recently in one my publication (“Pseudo-nitzschia kodamae sp. nov. (Bacillariophyceae), a toxigenic species from Strait of Malacca, Malaysia”). Besides the diatom, I also assisted on the ongoing harmful algae project in lab such as the fish kill (“ A bloom of Karlodinium australe (Gymnodiniales, Dinophyceae) associated with mass mortality of cage-cultured fishes in West Johor strait, Malaysia”), shellfish poisoning and potential blooming algae.
