Research Activities Dr. Sankar's main research focus is the assessment of the impacts of coastal hazards. He is specifically concerned with how these impacts will be amplified by increased storm activity (frequency and intensity), as well as rising sea levels and increasing population density in coastal regions. He continues to actively investigate coastal processes and island morphodynamics. Current work focuses on using an amalgamation of methodologies to quantify rates of erosion in relation to shoreline geometry, relative sea-level rise, increased storminess and incident wave energy - to better comprehend coastal processes and sediment transport rates along varying settings.
