PROFESSIONAL DATA

Degree B.Sc (Chemistry), M.Sc (Analytical Chemistry/Environmental Chemistry and Pollution Control)
Job type Research , Data Management
Research Area(s) Biological Oceanography, Marine Ecology , Chemical Oceanography , Marine Biotechnology, Marine Products , Pollution , Biological Oceanography, Marine Ecology , Chemical Oceanography , Marine Biotechnology, Marine Products , Pollution
Research Activities Marine biogeochemistry, Marine Pollution and Eco-toxicology
Working languages English
Skills/Expertise My research interests vary from land-sea soil organic carbon transport dynamics, to the reconstruction of past climate change, as well as to method development and validation. The occurrence, distribution, and isotopic composition of specific molecules derived from plants and/or (micro) organisms, or so-called lipid biomarkers, are the most important tools for this work.

Proficient in analyses of marine samples for persistent organic pollutants (PCBs, PBDEs, PAHs, OCPs) using Gas Chromatography, trace elements & heavy metals using Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy and nutrients (Phosphate, silicate, nitrate, nitrite) using UV Spectrophotometry. And also efficient in the use of biomarkers in the area of ecological risk assessment of potential toxic compounds and elements in marine organisms.

Comments At present, I am a Ph.D. student at Ocean College, Zhejiang University Hangzhou China and at the same time employed by Nigerian Institute for Oceanography and Marine Research for over 4 years. Interested to join in collaborative marine research on biological, chemical and geological conditions of the ocean.
