Skills/Expertise I would like research address the fundamental question: what are the mechanisms responsible for the spatial variations in the structure of the near shore communities (macrozooplankton, ichthyoplankton and benthic organisms) and particularly new theoretical and integrative means to predict their variations in space. The main goal of research it is understand the influence of physical processes (turbulence/currents) into spatial – temporal zooplankton and ichthyoplankton patterns at different scales and his ecological implications for recruitment and community and population permanence. I interested on three kind of physical – biological processes. 1) The effect of currents and turbulence over zooplankton and ichthyoplankton distribution and dynamics into Frontal Zone 2) The role of currents and turbulence into settlement processes for benthic organisms in order to maintain population, community or fishery 3) The importance of currents and turbulence into development and structure of zooplankton and ichthyoplankton patchiness The ecosystems are complex and hierarchical in structure and what is know of the general behavior of such systems also indicates the need to study small scale. I know that physical world change with the scale. For small organisms (less than 2 cm) the physical world is advective, in other hand the world is inertial for large organisms (bigger than 2 cm). Technical approach by field quantification data and laboratory experiments.
