Research Activities Study of metals and rare earth element distribution in sediments and seawater of the South China Sea. These studies look at distribution of the metals in relation to their provenance. Sediment metal speciation, mineralogy and metal-metal, metal-REEs co-relationships are used to trace provenance and distribution patterns. The toxicity of metals to marine e.g. sea bass, seagrass and freshwater organisms e.g. chrionomidae, fish are also studied.
