Degree PhD
Job type Teaching/Education , Research
Research Area(s) Biological Oceanography, Marine Ecology , Biological Oceanography, Marine Ecology
Research Activities Coral, crustacean, and giant clam ecology. Organism form and function. Application of multivariate statistics (e.g. CDA, PCA, EFA, MDS, CCA) to morphometric and community data. Creation of novel techniques for research into morphology and patterning.
Research Region SE Asia
Skills/Expertise Marine Biology, Evolutionary Ecology, Phenotypic Plasticity, Crypsis and Polymorphism.
Comments Much of my research has involved extensive fieldwork and experimentation, sometimes requiring the development of novel methods/techniques for investigating morphology, patterning, and behaviour. Data sets are frequently large and complex, making them highly suitable for exploration with multivariate ordination statistics. In addition to my coral and crab studies, I am presently working on gregariousness, anti-predator defences, and genotype x environment interactions in the giant clam Tridacna squamosa.
