Activities Marlin-Yug supports and develops own activity in close coordination with Data Buoy Cooperation Panel (DBCP) of World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) plans and projects. Hundreds of our drifters have been used within international data buoys programs. Since 1999 the Black Sea has become the area for investigation and evaluation of different novelties in drifter technology. The positive results achieved here have been introduced in international drifter practice. Starting with 2006 we have been taking part in the Iridium Pilot Project to estimate the advantages of this communication system for drifter monitoring. Participation in the Pilot Project on Wave Measurement Evaluation as well as in Argos-3 Pilot Project has become new goals since 2009.
