Short Title Regional Workshop on Coastal Hazard Assessment
Summary Responding to the need of Member States in the Western, Eastern and Northern Indian Ocean to build capacity to undertake coastal hazard assessments within an overall risk assessment, management and mitigation framework, IOC UNESCO with the support of the University of Moratuwa is organising a workshop entitled: “Coastal Hazard Assessment: Applications in Risk Assessment, Management and Mitigation” to be held at the Mount Lavinia Hotel, Colombo, Sri Lanka, 19-22 March 2013. The workshop will provide technical specialists from relevant ministries and agencies with hands-on training on the assessment of hazards, vulnerability, risk management and mitigation. The workshop will also promote sustainability by encouraging active participation in the ICG/IOTWS Working Group on Risk Assessment and Reduction.
